Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026
The short version: Studbid has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your business data, meaning jobs, customers, estimates, invoices, photos and signatures, stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud backup, which is on unless you turn it off. The app sends a small amount of information off your device, and this page lists all of it: anonymous usage counts tied to a random ID for your install, and what the support chat gets if you open it. Your customers' names, phone numbers and papers are never included. We never sell this information or use it for ads.
Studbid is published by HOMERUNUNIT L.L.C., a Michigan limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does, and does not do, with information.
Information stored on your device
Jobs, customers, job-site addresses, estimates, change orders, invoices, receipts, payments, expenses and receipts you scan, photos, signatures, permits, punch lists, your business details, your logo and your settings are stored on your iPhone. We cannot access, view or receive this information.
iCloud backup (on unless you turn it off)
If your iPhone is signed in to iCloud, the app copies your data to your personal iCloud account, in a private container managed by Apple. It is protected by your Apple Account and Apple's encryption. A backup contains everything stored in the app, including customer details, papers, photos and signatures. We have no access to your iCloud data and cannot read it. You can turn backup off at any time in Settings.
Usage analytics
The app sends anonymous usage events to PostHog (posthog.com), a product analytics service run by PostHog, Inc. and hosted in the United States, so we can see which features people use and where the app needs work. These are counts of actions, such as an estimate being created or sent, a job being marked paid, or a setting being changed (its name, never its value). Each event also carries the app version, the iOS version and whether you have Studbid Pro. PostHog's software adds technical details such as the device type and screen size. The identifiers attached are a random ID for your install, created on your device, and a random ID for each session. No name, phone number, email address, street address, customer information, price, photo or paper content is ever included. Session recording and replay are off, and so is automatic capture of taps and screens. Like any internet service, PostHog's servers see your device's IP address when an event arrives; the app tells PostHog not to use it to look up a location. These events are never sold, never used for advertising and never used to track you across other apps or websites. You can read PostHog's privacy policy at posthog.com/privacy.
In-app support chat
Studbid includes an optional live chat so you can reach us from inside the app. The app gives Crisp none of your details until you open the chat. When you open it, the business name you have set in the app is passed along as a display name, so we know who we are talking to. When you write to us, the message text you type, the email address you provide if you give one so we can reply, and any photo you attach are sent to and stored by Crisp IM SARL, a customer support provider based in France, acting as our processor on our behalf. Like most chat services, Crisp also records your IP address and an approximate location (city and country) based on it, and gives you a random user ID, kept on your device, that ties your messages together into one conversation. This information is used for one thing only: answering your support request. It is never sold, never shared with advertisers and never used for advertising. You can read Crisp's privacy policy at crisp.chat/en/privacy. To have your chat history deleted, email us at the address at the bottom of this page.
Reminders and notifications
If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders on your device, for example when a payment is due or a follow-up is waiting. These reminders are created and delivered by iOS on your iPhone; nothing about them is sent to us. You can turn them off at any time in the iPhone's Settings app, under Notifications.
Talk the job (microphone and speech recognition)
If you choose to describe a job out loud, the app asks for microphone and speech-recognition permission. Your speech is turned into text on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech engine. Audio is never uploaded to us. Say no, and you can still type every job.
Camera and photos
The camera and the photos you choose are used only to attach photos to your jobs, to take before-and-after and behind-the-walls photos, to photograph signed inspection cards and your certificate of insurance, to scan expense receipts, to add your logo, and to send a photo to support in the chat. Receipts are read on your device, and the amount, date and store name read from them stay in the app. Photos are stored on your device, and in your iCloud backup if it is on. We receive a photo only if you attach it in the support chat.
Calendar
If you turn on the calendar mirror in Settings, the app creates a calendar named "Studbid" in your iPhone's Calendar app and writes your job dates and money due dates into it, so they show next to your other appointments. The app reads and changes only the events in that calendar. Nothing from your Calendar is sent to us. Turn the mirror off at any time in Settings.
Face ID and Touch ID
If you turn on the app lock, iOS handles the Face ID or Touch ID check. The app only learns whether the unlock succeeded. It never sees, stores or sends your biometric data.
Subscriptions
Studbid Pro is purchased through Apple. Payment is handled entirely by the App Store; we never see your payment details. Manage or cancel any time in your App Store subscription settings.
Links to other sites
Some screens link to outside websites: official state forms and pages, the App Store page for Studbid, your own payment links, and the Google review link you choose to put on your receipts. Opening a link takes you to that site, which sees your device's IP address and follows its own privacy policy. Tapping Rate Studbid in Help opens the App Store; only Studbid's App Store ID is sent.
Your customers' information
Details you record about your own customers, such as names, phone numbers, email addresses and job-site addresses, are stored on your device for your use. We never receive them. As the business owner, you are responsible for handling your customers' information appropriately, and for having their permission before you share any photo of their home, for example in your portfolio.
The demo
The demo inside the app uses made-up customers and jobs. Nothing in it is a real person.
Our website
studbid.com uses no analytics, no cookies and no tracking. If you email us, we keep your email so we can reply.
How long information is kept
Data in the app stays on your device, and in your iCloud backup if it is on, until you delete it. We run no server that holds your data. PostHog keeps anonymous usage events under its own retention policy. Crisp keeps support conversations until they are deleted.
Data deletion
You can delete any record inside the app, or delete the app to remove all local data. To remove iCloud backup data, turn backup off and manage the app's iCloud data in your iPhone's iCloud settings. You can also export everything at any time from Settings; your data is never locked in.
Your choices
The support chat sends information only when you open it. Reminders, the microphone, the camera, the calendar mirror and the app lock each ask first and can be turned off in Settings or in the iPhone's Settings app. iCloud backup sends your data only to your own iCloud, and you can turn it off in Settings. The app does not currently have a setting to turn off anonymous usage analytics. For any privacy request, email [email protected].
Children
Studbid is a business tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your rights
We collect only what is listed above. We never sell it or use it for ads, and we share it only with the service providers named on this page so they can do their part. Support chat conversations are deleted on request. If you have any privacy question or request, contact us and we will help.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
